Lately, I have been mixing and matching different code snippets or plugins on this blog. But what I’ve realised is that this tour in the playground wouldn’t stop because there are no boundaries to what I can play with. In the end, I will always be stuck with a less-than-perfect blog.
So far, I’ve tweaked a portion of the CSS on this blog, of which some involves the latest and upcoming CSS3. (If you can’t see the rounded corners and drop shadow, it’s high time you upgrade your browser. :D) I have also updated the Facebook Like button, which features your display picture now (hehe) and added the latest Tweet button from the Twitterverse.
Nevertheless, I won’t be stopping here, as I have plans to add more channels for feedback on this blog, a gallery to display all my photos here and other cool stuff that comes along my search.
Design aside, I have shifted my web host to Dreamhost, which has been a much better experience than NearlyFreeSpeech. Unlimited bandwidth, unlimited diskspace, no more unnecessary Safe PHP restrictions and no proxy required to access it. Most importantly, its FREE. (Heehee, thanks dear!)
Moving on, I’m think I’m ready to take on other web design projects, for more hands-on practice (and some extra income if possible, haha). Any recommendations?
Oh well, one more day to go before I fly off to Guilin! I’ll return with a new travelogue in 2 weeks time~ (:

HTC Touch 2 Non Camera
Nope, not an iPhone 4 that hardcore fans queue up outside Singtel nearly a day before its launch. In fact, I wanted to get an iPhone 4, but I won’t be able to use it during work. Buying an iPhone 4 would also require an overpriced Multi-Sim plan and an extra Micro-Sim card which I refuse to pay the Red, Orange and Green companies.
What I have bought was HTC Touch 2′s Non Camera version that was recently launched in Singapore. It runs on Windows Mobile 6.5, which we all know has complete inability to compete with iOS or Android… Design wise, it is pretty sleek and comfortable to use, no qualms about it.
I bought it mainly for instant messaging, which saves me my SMS cost. (: Besides, I’m currently using it to read my long list of unread RSS feeds or watch some music videos on Youtube while travelling. There are also various applications on Windows Marketplace, such as apps that fetch bus arrival timings or information about currently airing movies.
Yet, a day of instant messaging would drain my battery completely, which makes charging the battery daily a must. The biggest catch for me is that there are hardly any web apps being produced for Windows Mobile, as most web apps only produce iOS or Android-compatible versions. So I’m stuck with some basic apps that doesn’t fully utilise my 12Gb of data.
And for those waiting for non-camera Android phones, I guess you can forget about it as Google is not willing to allow access to Android Market and developer support for devices that don’t conform to their requirements. Having a camera is one of those.
Yep, so here are my two cents on HTC Touch 2′s Non Camera version. I’m having thoughts of getting an iPod touch and using my phone to tether. Any advice?
is the only constant. How cliche but true.
Tiantian has returned to China after 5 months here in Singapore. Although there were many problems we faced in the past 5 months, involving accomodation, jobs, income, etc…, it has been such a memorable journey we had together.
We visited places in Singapore we have not stepped foot on before, and made special trips to popular food places to test the validity of Singapore’s “Food Paradise” title. Besides, we have travelled to 2 lovely places, Bintan and Redang, taking hundreds of wonderful photos to capture these pieces of memories that were irreplaceable.
Even though I have always complained about the lack of time to myself, I never regretted the amount of time and effort spent into making all these possible. Having little to look forward to within the next 2 years, there were at least the past 5 months to look back on, isn’t it? (:
But having nothing to look forward to actually ain’t that true. :P Because I’ll be travelling to Guilin and Qingdao from 4-12th September! Well, one of the plus points of not having studies now is having the time to plan and explore the world. Though this is the third time I’m travelling this year, it’s the first trip that I’ve been actually planning for weeks, including flights, accommodation and attractions to visit.
Besides planning the trip of the year, I am back on track with my blog. As you can see, I have changed my blog’s theme again. This time, I’m focusing more on functionality than on design, which means more codes for me to decipher and cooler stuff to expect on this dashboard of plugins. I’ll also be changing my hosting servers to a (hopefully) better one, and reviewing all the past posts here.
This ain’t all I have to update, but I shall stop here for now in case this turns into an essay. Stay tuned~

The iconic Universal Studios globe
I finally had a chance to visit Universal Studios Singapore (USS), ever since its launch in April. Honestly, it wasn’t as good as I thought. Perhaps I’m a roller coaster freak (it feels great to sit on one and scream throughout the entire ride), but the closure of Battlestar Galactica attraction already lowered my expectation by ten times. Haha.
Nevertheless, entering USS feels like a different piece of land altogether. That’s the main point of theme parks, isn’t it? Despite visiting on a Saturday, Tiantian and I did not spend much time queuing, which is already a plus point for the day. (: We visited almost all the attractions by early evening, leaving us to walk around and wait for the awesome pyrotechnic display at the end of the day.
In chronological order, here are the attractions we visited. *Spoiler alert! xP*

Beach in the morning
Day 2
The rain overnight dashed our hopes in watching sunrise from our room. Nevertheless, we embraced the cool and humid weather and went for our second snorkelling trip. This time, we were supposed to go to the Marine Park, where the waters are more shallow. But due to the choppy waves over there as claimed by our resort’s diving guides, we ended up snorkelling at another island.

Jetty at Pasir Panjang, Redang
Just in case you’re thinking where on earth I went from 18-20 July, here’s the travelogue to my trip with Tiantian to Redang, Malaysia. For about $400 each, we managed to try snorkelling for the first time in our lives, trek through a jungle for about two hours and walk along a lovely beach.
The thing I like most about resort holidays is that there aren’t much activities to do, so we could really take our time, lay back and relax. Ahh, I wish I had more of such days to just lie down on a beach chair by the sea and read my book. (:

Guess which side of the Semi-D bungalow is ours :D
Our resort, Redang Holiday Beach Villa, definitely paled in comparison to what we had in Bintan – our room was slightly dirty and we had sandy bedsheets. Tap water was slightly brown (due to rusty pipes) and the switch casings in our toilet were basically detached from the wall and hanging mid-air… But I didn’t mind trading these off for a cheaper price, a great sea view from our semi-d bungalow and lots of space! Staying in this resort will definitely make you feel back-to-nature, which I believe is the X-factor here.

Looking at the date of the last post would have tell you that this month have been such a speed-ride for me.
Working life has been much better this month. I’m promoted without a corresponding pay increase. Besides that, with some organisational restructuring in progress, my job scope and work ahead seems more uncertain, but promises something new to look forward to. Hopefully, I’ll be moving over to Depot Road permanently and working with a new bunch of people. Yay!
The same goes for my non-working life, as I seem to be spending more time collating content than actually writing them out. >< Fret not, I will be writing about my trip to Redang, Universal Studios Singapore, Jay Chou concert and other stuff I can think of in time to come.
Oh wait, that depends on whether Tiantian has finish editing the photos… *hints* (:
I’m sure everybody has a habit of collecting, no matter how small or uncommon the collectibles may be. To me, the collections that I take care of are these last remnants of memory of my past twelve years of eventful schooling life.

Movie ticket stubs
Movie ticket stubs should be a common one. To me, it represents the various class outings that are often movie outings, gatherings with other friends, my first date, and the subsequent ones… (:

Notes from 08S6A classmates
One of the most memorable sessions in College would be the one where we had written encouragement notes to each other in class, in preparation for Promotional Exams. To me, it is the best gift from the class. I believe the notes 08S6Aians have received from each other are also the best gifts from the class too?

My cupboard collection
For the other special occasions, such as my birthday, touristy items I bought when I travelled overseas, gifts from friends that just returned from holidays and other items worth keeping, they are all stored in this particular shelf easily accessible when I’m at my desk.

Army of Eclipse mints boxes
What about weird collectibles? To date, I have collected about 20 metal casings of each and every Eclipse mints I bought. By statistics, half of them are of Winterfrost flavour. :X

Secret box (:
Lastly, this is the very special box that stores all the small but unforgettable stuff about you. *Winks*
That’s all for me.
So, what do your collections mean to you?
